"Be faithful to your own taste, because nothing you really like is ever out of style." - Billy Baldwin.
I came across this quote a few years ago when I was reading All in Good Taste. I often like to tell people who come to be about design advice about this quote because it is so true. If someone likes something, then that's their own style, and they should cultivate a space that embodies that.
There is a fine line to this, though, because some colors, pieces, and styles can be very trendy for a short period of time. I like to suggest that the main pieces to a room should be pretty timeless and somewhat versatile; this would include things like rugs, desks, dressers, couches, and beds. Everything else is much easier to transfer out between seasons, years, etc. So things like vases, frames, books, pillows, and throws can be exchanged much more easily and quickly to showcase different styles.
Thanks for following along on my first real blog post! Any feedback is appreciated!
