Moving into a new space is always accompanied by a transition phase. When I tell you I have probably rearranged the kitchen/living space close to ten times, I am not lying. I have a few pictures below for proof.
It's true that the only way to get better is to change, though. After living in my apartment for a few months now, I have a much better sense of how it the space feels and flows. Although the first setup I had probably was not that ugly, I knew it didn't feel right in the space. I got a new console from Target shortly after moving in. I put my painting above it for a while, which looked cute, but now that I centered it on the wall with my roommate's antique mirror, the whole space feels so much more glued together.
Although this "feel" for spatial awareness might not come easily to everyone at first, just know that sometimes it just takes a few months of actually living in the space to know what feels right... and that you can always rearrange!

Thanks for reading along!
