I generally find rules comforting because they provide structure, which is good because there a quite a few rules in accounting and tax. Don't get me wrong, I know most things in the tax law can be pretty gray, but at the end of the day, there's at least always an answer.
As a self-taught painter, I decided to tell myself there are no rules when it comes to my paintings - making it such great outlet. My creative side enjoys the small break from all of the rules that set the structure in my life.
To me, art is art because it is visually pleasing and evokes some sort of emotion from the viewer. I got into painting because of interior design mainly. I always want wall art to fit a room. It should draw attention without being distracting - something where the eye can rest.
I find a lot of inspiration pieces that would achieve this natural flow and then try to recreate for a specific space. It's been a long process of learning, and if you're interested in any of the paintings I showcase and want a commission let me know!
